ICE Helps Our Community’s COVID-19 Readiness Effort

ICE donated Intubation Shields and gowns to local hospitals.  In April, 2020, Steve Maier, ICE’s President and CEO, learned of a need for Intubation Shields and hospital gowns to protect healthcare workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. An Intubation Shield is a clear plastic barrier placed over a patient during intubattion.  An Intubation Shield protects the hospital clinician from airborne particles during the intubation procedure.

Steve saw the value of these shields and reached out to Skyline Hospital in White Salmon, WA. Skyline appreciated the offer, and ICE got to work. Our engineering team worked with Skyline to design two shields with custom specifications to fit the types of beds used in the hospital. Once the designs were complete, ICE’s manufacturing team finished and delivered the shields in less than a week.

ICE also cut patterns for more than 500 disposable gowns for HMB50. The finished gowns were donated to Emergency Distribution centers across six counties in Oregon. HMB50 is a local non-profit which manufactures high quality disposable hospital gowns and donates them to COVID-19 hot spots in the PNW. We are proud that our engineering and manufacturing expertise contributed to our community’s COVID-19 response effort.
